Additional agronomic information
This variety is composed of two clones—S.270 and S.274—which are required to be planted together, because separate planting will reduce fruit sets. These two genotypes have recorded yields of nearly 1000 kg/ha on an average over 35 years of testing in rain-fed conditions. The planting density for this variety is 3m x 3m.

History
Sln.1R, popularly known as S.274 or Selection Robusta, was the first robusta selection released by CCRI during the late 1940s. Based on evaluation of individual progenies of 12 yielding mother plants collected from different private estates and maintained in the gene bank at CCRI, two individual high-yielding plants with bold beans (compared to old robusta), were identified. The seedling progenies of these two individual high-yielding mother plants were designated as S.270 and S.274 and released as Sln.1R.
